Germany
The synagogue of the religious community of Meisenheim, built in the years 1864-1866, was the largest of the former 20 synagogues in the Bad Kreuznach district.
On the night of the pogroms on November 9, 1938, the interior was devastated and the building set on fire, which was, however, extinguished again to protect the neighboring building.
Until 1945, it served as a warehouse for grain, feed and fertilizer. A 1985 founded "carrier and promotion association synagogue Meisenheim" acquired 1986 the building and made it available to the public on 09.11.1988 after successful construction and development as "House of the meeting'"
.By decision of May 21, 1997, the building was placed as a cultural asset worthy of special protection under the protection of the Hague Convention.
In 1999, moreover, as a sign of German-Israeli reconciliation, a Star of David made of Jerusalem marble, donated by the twin city of the district of Bad Kreuznach Kiryat Motzkin (Israel), was placed above the entrance to the building.
