The cemetery was founded in 1752 by the purchase of a plot of land "An den weißen Bergen" by three Schutzjuden of Bleckede named in the purchase deed, Emanuel Hertz, Salomon Mosis and Benjamin David. In 1802, the cemetery was expanded to its present size by another land purchase. A death list exists for the period from 1789 to 1935.
In the left part there are several gravestones placed in a semicircle, in the right part there are still three rows recognizable with originally probably ten graves each, of which, however, only a part is still present. This present appearance is the result of the destruction after the Reichspogromnacht in 1938, a new order in 1952 by the municipality of Bleckede due to the complaint of a Jewish woman from Bleckede who emigrated before World War II and renewed desecrations in the 1980s. In 2016, the cemetery was once again desecrated and vandalized, with 12 gravestones being massively damaged or knocked over by 13- to 15-year-old students. In 2017, the damage was removed - as far as possible - and the gravestones were restored and cleaned.
The cemetery has been owned by the State Association of Jewish Communities in Lower Saxony since 1959.
