Gewann Effenstiel (Flurstück 6345)
76356 Weingarten
Germany
The dead of the Jewish community of Weingarten were buried presumably until 1632 in Worms, then in Obergrombach.
Since 1902/03 existed a separate cemetery in the Gewann "Effenstiel" (parcel 6345).
The cemetery area covers an area of 14.25 Ar and today there are still 35 gravestones present, including four for children.
In the cemetery there is a memorial plaque for the Jewish fallen of World War I. It comes from the local synagogue, which was vandalized in the November pogroms of 1938 and demolished a short time later. A Weingarten Jew had taken custody of the plaque; presumably in 1940 it was placed in the cemetery before almost all Jews still living in Weingarten were deported in October 1940 in the Wagner-Bürckel action
