Institute for Sexology
In the years 1871/2 the "Villa Joachim" is built for the Jewish violinist, composer, conductor and music professor Joseph Georg Maria Joachim (1831-1907) and his family at the address Beethovenstraße 3/In den Zelten 10, north of the Berlin Tiergarten.
Nearly ten years later, the adjacent building with the house number In den Zelten 9a was built in 1880.
Institut für Jüdische Theologie / School of Jewish Theology
The University of Potsdam does not count directly as a Jewish place even for the students at the "School of Jewish Theology," but the Jewish faith is integrated.
European Center for Jewish Music Hanover
The European Center for Jewish Music (ECJM) has its headquarters in the Villa Seligmann. It was founded in 1988 by Andor Izsák in Augsburg. Its tasks are the preservation, research and mediation of Jewish liturgical music as it was heard in European synagogues until 1938. It operates a database on synagogal music.
Salomon Ludwig Steinheim Institute for German-Jewish History (Essen)
The Salomon Ludwig Steinheim Institute has been based in the former Rabbi's House in Essen since May 2011. The Institute was founded in 1986 and is named after the Jewish physician, religious philosopher and scholar Salomon Ludwig Steinheim. The Institute researches German-Jewish history from the early modern period to the present and cooperates in research and teaching with the University of Düsseldorf. The Steinheim Institute offers regular courses at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
