The synagogue with its valuable interior furnishings was saved from destruction by being handed over to the Vaterländische Museum in Braunschweig. In the 1970s, there were plans by the then State Rabbi and the Brunswick Museum of History and Folklore to establish a Jewish Museum for Northern Germany in this synagogue. Last use: No information

The synagogue was part of the old people's home of the German-Israelite community of Hamburg and was shared by the Jewish community on high holidays after the war until 1958. Last use: after May 18, 1958 student dormitory of the Franciscan Order.
