Jewish Community

The Jewish community of Öttershausen was an Israelite religious community in the area of today's hamlet of Öttershausen in the district of Gaibach, Volkach, in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen. The community established itself in the 18th century and dissolved around the year 1880.

The Jewish Community of Prichsenstadt was an Israelite religious community in the Lower Franconian town of Prichsenstadt in the district of Kitzingen. There is evidence of Jews in the town as early as the 14th century. The community was persecuted by the National Socialists and the last members were deported in 1942.

The history of the Jews in Regensburg dates back to the 10th century. Today (2013) the Jewish community of Regensburg counts more than 1000 members.

The community existed between the 18th century and the year 1911. On the outskirts of the village also existed a Jewish cemetery.

The Jewish Community of Rimbach was an Israelite religious community in the present-day area of the Volkach district of Rimbach in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen. The community existed between 1812 and 1881.

The roots of the Jewish community in Roth, the district capital of the Middle Franconian district of Roth, date back to the middle of the 16th century. The Jewish community existed until 1935.

The Jewish Community Sommerach was an Israelite religious community in the present-day municipality of Sommerach in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen. It existed from the 16th century until the year 1902.

A Jewish community has existed in Straubing since the middle of the 13th century. Despite its eventful and sometimes sorrowful history, it is the center of Jewish life in Lower Bavaria and, with 1,740 members, is still the second largest Jewish community in Bavaria after Munich. Its synagogue is the only remaining one in Lower Bavaria. Therefore, the community area covers the whole of Lower Bavaria, with branches in Deggendorf, Landshut, Passau, Plattling and Vilshofen.
