On July 9, 1905, the first Jewish old people's home in Unna was inaugurated. It was located at Mühlenstraße 7. A prayer room was set up for the elderly people living there. In the post-war period, the Catholic parish of St. Katharina acquired the building from the Jewish Trust Corporation. Today it is the Boniface Catholic Home for the Aged. After a new Jewish community was established in late 1990 / early 2000, the prayer room temporarily served as the synagogue of the new Jewish community.

In the village Rödingen (municipality Titz, district Düren) lived already in the Middle Ages isolated Jewish women and men. In the 19th century a small community arose here. The long-standing community leader Isaak Ullmann had a synagogue built on his property in 1841 for the Jewish families in Rödingen and the surrounding villages.
