Around 1485 some Jewish families received the right of residence in Gartz. After the expulsion Jews settled there again in the early 19th century, which formed about 1840/50 a community.

In 1816 one counted 2 Jews in Gartz, in 1892 the community reached its largest head count with 122, in 1932 were still 26 Jewish believers resident there.

Around 1862 a synagogue was established.

Around 1850, a cemetery was established,

The last burial took place in 1934 or 1935, 1938 the cemetery was partially verwüstet, 1940 took place the forced sale.
