Take Part

Fragen
Frage
Who may participate in the project?
Antwort

As well as documenting Jewish life, the Jewish Places project seeks to promote intergenerational cooperation and facilitate mutual learning. Anyone interested in Judaism or their own region’s history can help us achieve these goals by contributing more documentation to the Jewish Places website. School groups, regional history researchers, neighborhood associations, amateurs and experts alike can support the community by adding knowledge about Jewish regional history to the website or supplementing what’s there with independent media such as photos or videos.

Frage
I would like to take part. Why do I need to register?
Antwort

To contribute to Jewish Places, you must first register with your email address and select a user name and password. Further details such as your name are optional. Registering makes it easier to manage entries you have created or edited through your user account. Also, each member of the community can “follow” individual entries and receive email notifications whenever those entries are modified or expanded. Registration also makes it possible for the Jewish Places editorial team to assign extended editing rights to users. This way, for example, users can play supporting roles in the editorial supervision of Jewish Places, such as adding a Life Story (person marker) or processing a problem. In the future, this will enable users to take part in and participate in the editorial supervision of Jewish Places.

Frage
I would like to present a walk, a life story, or a thematic feature. How can I add these types of content to the website?
Antwort

The Jewish Places website is designed to expand continuously with its users’ contributions, so anyone can directly add or edit Sites on the map.

However, the sections under “Walks,” “Life Stories,” and “Thematic Features” present content specially prepared by the Jewish Places editorial team for its users. These pages are designed to give simple and approachable access to Jewish regional history and are held to a higher standard of reliability. The project strives for ongoing improvement and users have the ability to propose requested changes to these pages too. Because this content is harmonized and fact-checked with particular care, users cannot make direct changes or additions to these sections on the website. However, you are welcome to send suggestions and comments to jewish-places@jmberlin.de, and our editorial team will review them as quickly as possible.
