The villa of manufacturer Edwin Stiefel

Edwin Stiefel (August 25, 1875 – August 1, 1932) founded the specialty factory for woodworking machinery Klein & Stiefel in Fulda. In 1924–25, he built the villa for his family and a caretaker couple. After his death, his wife Flora Stiefel, née Mayer, was paid out her share of the business assets; she sold the villa in 1936 and emigrated to Israel in 1938 via Switzerland, Holland, and England. Her four children, Käte, Lisbeth, Otto, and Charlotte, had already left Germany earlier. Edwin Stiefel’s grave is preserved at the New Jewish Cemetery in Fulda.
