The memorial was designed by architect Wilhelm Haller in Art Deco style and was inaugurated on June 6, 1926.
The names of all 121 fallen Jewish soldiers were engraved on the gable wall of the memorial. The inscription under the crown and Star of David reads, "Ejch naflu Gibborim - How have fallen the heroes!" (2 Samuel 1:19)
