Cobblestones lead to the memorial plaque, which is on the ground. Behind it green lawn, to the left a plastered half-timbered house.

Beschreibung
Ensisheim in Alsace became the last place where Rabbi Meir of Rothenburg lived and worked, albeit involuntarily. King Rudolf of Habsburg built castles here since 1273 and made Ensisheim a military "base". This is probably how he had the "King's Castle" built to the west of the town, where Rabbi Meir of Rothenburg perished. The castle was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War.
