Through the donation of a piece of land, Emanuel Mendel made the construction of a waterworks in Berlin-Pankow possible. The Bürgerpark, the construction of the hospital, the establishment of the Gartenbau-Verein, the Krieger-Verein and also the "Verein für freiwillige Feuerwehr" in Pankow can be traced back to him. In his honor, a street and also an elementary school in Pankow were named after him.
